Paul Easther is an Australian children’s author, illustrator and storyteller whose books combine imagination, humour and meaningful life lessons.
Paul believes that children can explore important ideas without feeling as though they are being taught a lesson. His stories invite young readers into colourful worlds filled with memorable characters and entertaining adventures, while gently touching on friendship, feelings, patience, kindness, wisdom and self-belief.
The life lessons are part of the story rather than the lecture. Children can enjoy the characters and adventures first, while the positive message remains with them long after the book has finished. Paul hopes his stories encourage curiosity, conversation and a lifelong love of reading.
From commercial building to creative work
Before turning his attention more fully to creative work, Paul spent much of his working life as a commercial builder and contributed to numerous building projects. It was a career requiring planning, problem-solving, persistence and the ability to turn an idea into something real—qualities that continue to influence the way he approaches his books and other creative projects.
Retirement gave Paul the opportunity to explore interests that had long been waiting for more time. He expanded into oil painting, creative woodwork, illustration and video production, eventually publishing thousands of videos for social media alongside his growing collection of books.
Stories with something to say
Writing brought many of those interests together. It allowed Paul to combine storytelling, illustration, visual imagination and his enjoyment of creating things for others. His books range from playful character adventures and stories about Australian animals to imaginative explorations of friendship, emotions, nature, humour and family wisdom.
Paul also creates promotional and storytelling videos for his books. These can be found on his YouTube channel, Paul Easther – Kids Books, where readers can meet the characters and experience another side of his creative work.
Whether he is writing, illustrating, painting, working with timber or producing a video, Paul remains fascinated by the process of taking an idea and bringing it to life.
